Energy Conservation in the Industrial Sector of Bangladesh

Energy Conservation in the Industrial Sector of Bangladesh, Bangladesh, under ADB fund [ADB PPTA No. 1973-BAN] 1995-1996

The objective of the project was to assist the government in formulating energy conservation programs, technology restructuring and investment recommendations in the identified industrial sub-sectors (cement, fertilizer, sugar, pulp and paper, iron and steel, and jute and textile). The conservation measures fell into three broad categories: (i) improved house keeping measures; (ii) combustion control and retrofit measures; and (iii) industry specific process improvement. In addition, there also were options for fuel substitution and cogeneration, i.e., simultaneous production of electricity and thermal power. TCIL provided consultants as well as local support service personnel and all logistics.
